WHAT IS THE ENTREPRENEUR’S LIST?
The Entrepreneurs List (EQ) is a “Family Tree” of lists of “illuminating” questions to ask. We want them to be both illuminating and helpful to entrepreneurs.
For an entrepreneur, knowing what questions to ask is easily as important as getting the right answers! That’s right; the right questions are as important as the answers, because if you are an entrepreneur asking the right questions, you’re well on your way to getting the right answers. That’s true whether Small Business, Start-up, Early stage company or entrepreneurial group in a larger organization. In fact, many of the lists of questions translate well to bigger company scenarios.
EQ started when I was collaborating with Joseph Ruiz @SMSJOE, Principal, Strategic Marketing Solutions, and Nick Kellet @NickKellet, co-founder of list.ly; during which Joseph and I realized we had the same “start-up” small biz love; It’s both the energy and ‘making the difference’ that keeps us mentoring and helping small biz and start-up companies. Added to this is a strong belief that we have a “hope in hell” that entrepreneurs will get us all out of the current economic mire. Part two of our “realization” was that list.ly would be the ideal forum for entrepreneurs to find lists of “best” and “right” questions to ask. I think at that point I realized that Joseph and I had created a monster.
So what about the answers; isn’t this what entrepreneurs really want? We both knew from experience that entrepreneurs need to know what are the “best” or “right” questions, and that finding the right answers is part of the journey to successful entrepreneurship. And it’s way easier when you know to ask the right questions.
When I told Elli St.George Godfrey @3Keyscoach, founder of #kaizenbiz, about EQ, she immediately saw a connection between what we’re doing and her Kaizen philosophy, which practices continuous improvement through small steps, to bring about positive change. One of the key questions asked in Kaizen to facilitate continuous change is, “What do I need to work on?” If you’re not asking yourself this regularly; you may be wasting your time on the wrong thing.
“What do I need to work on?” More people need to ask this question, and you can usually figure out the answer by asking a few more questions!
This strong connection has inspired #Kaizenbiz to sponsor EQ. This is really exciting for us, and appropriate too, as the participants/members of #Kaizenbiz are very qualified to add to our lists of questions.
With Nick’s help this is how we set things up. We created an @EQLIST twitter account for consistent branding of our lists. Then we posted the first lists of questions (various categories of questions) that entrepreneurs need to ask. Check it out on list.ly.
For those of you who don’t know about list.ly, it is “collections” of things in list form, sort of like Pinterest©. Shared “collections” just like Pinterest, but with a collaborative mindset, which I feel is more advanced than Pinterest©, and our EG lists are targeted to empower entrepreneurs. Of course we’ll create a Pinterest© account, and cross-pollinate our Entrepreneur lists in image form.
Eventually we’ll even have a #kaizenbiz Entrepreneurs Questions infographic; cool eh?.
I invite everyone to contribute their expertise, and join us in creating the lists of “the right” and “the best” questions for Entrepreneurs to ask.
Select an item on the MASTER list below to visit the actual list of questions in the particular category and add your questions(s). Or add a category to the MASTER List itself. Please check out EQ List.ly
