Who Will Solve Future Architectural Needs?

Sunday, March 17th, 2013

Who is more likely to come up with the solutions for 21st Century Design and Interior Architecture? The architect who focuses on the affluent, who have the money to pay for just about any kind of design, or the architect who focuses on the needs of the less fortunate, who may have compelling issues, but are unable to pay for the solutions?

 Discussion

This discussion evolved in a recent Google plus Interior Design Community. The discussion happened shortly after a recent twitter chat on 21st Century Design and Interior Architecture, with Architect Max Campi @massicampi as guest host, live from Naples, Italy.

Different viewpoints:

One of the #intdesignerchat participants stated that he felt Max’s answers during the chat and the questions did not accurately address future needs, because (in his opinion) the future would be addressed by focusing on design for the masses, not for the up-scale clients Max’s answers were geared to. My response can be found on Google plus.

Let’s continue the conversation here:

I’d like to invite architect Max Campi and anyone else to continue the discussion here in the comments on my blog; below the long list of chat answers! It’s a valid and fascinating discussion of future alternatives. It’s also an indicator how the chats on twitter can be just the ‘tip of the iceberg’, and lead to some far-reaching in depth conversations elsewhere!

Damn!

This was one of the best #intdesignerchat ‘s ever, but the twitter API failed, and the entire transcript was lost in the ether! And no amount of ranting at Charlie at @hastracking could bring it back. My chat stream only saved 4 tweets, and I’ve added those to the list.ly. But it’s all good……..(be sure and check my comment below in comments)

So here are the chat questions, followed by Max’s answers on our list.ly list. Thank you Max for being a most gracious guest host, and for providing the list of all your answers for this post.

THE CHAT Questions on 21st Century Design and Interior Architetture

Q1:  What are the most important values you look for in a house?

Q2: Thinking contemporary architecture, how should it be the house for the next generation?

Q3: How can you make reduced spaces look bigger?

Q4: Smart houses and technology have a deep role in future: show equipment with emphasis, or hide them?

Q5: in your opinion, which is the next frontier of design?

Max concludes with a short piece of advice: There are things that have to be rediscovered from the past, to be reinterpreted for the future.

The answers to the questions are here, so please enjoy, and soak up the information, as there are lots of really good responses

Please feel free to add your own answers!

Everyone, please feel free to add your own answers to the list.ly list , use A1,A2,A3….. as we do in chats (include your twitter handle in the notes box), vote on any of Max’s answers, and/or comment on Max’s answers.
